Southern Style Green Beans | Savory, Sweet & Spicy

OOOOOOHHHH 🔥That ain’t just a name… that’s a promise, these Green Beans!!! These aren’t your average green beans.

The flavor comes in layers — smoky bacon, tender shredded chicken, buttery broth, a little sweetness from honey, and just enough red pepper flakes to bring some heat.

That savory, sweet, and spicy combination is exactly where the name comes from. Let them simmer long enough to soak up all that flavor, then crumble the bacon back in at the end so you still get a little texture.

This is the kind of side dish that doesn’t stay on the side for long. Savory from the bacon, chicken, and butter. Sweet from the honey. Spicy from the red pepper flakes. That’s the Triple S.

Yeah… this one right here is about to sit real pretty next to Fried Ribs: 3 Easy Ways to Cook Them.

Why These Green Beans Work

These green beans get their flavor from layers instead of one heavy seasoning. Bacon brings the smoky flavor, shredded chicken makes them hearty, and the broth gives everything time to soak in and come together.

The sweet and spicy notes stay in the background, so the beans still taste like green beans — just with a little more personality.

Serving Ideas

Serve hot with:

  • Fried ribs
  • Rice
  • Potatoes any style

And yes — spoon some of that broth over the plate. Don’t waste it.

Pro Tips

  • Bone-in chicken gives deeper flavor.
  • Don’t rush the simmer.
  • Add the bacon at the end so it keeps some texture.
  • These green beans taste even better the next day.

Storing & Reheating

Store the Green Beans in an airtight container in the refrigerator for about 3–5 days. Heat and stir before serving, let cool and enjoy.
